Bootmen: Novice director Perry (of the dance group Tap Mutts) used his own background to develop this toe tapping film of a youthful gentleman’s escape into big-time show business- and then back once more as he rallies his blue collar tap-dancing cronies to build his own modern-day dance show. Cast includes Adam Garcia, Sam Worthington, Sophie Lee, Christopher Horsey, Lee McDonald, William Zappa, and Richard Carter. (93 minutes, 2000)
The Plot against Harry: Entertaining, perceptive look at N.Y.C. life in reference to an aging mobster just sprung from jail, who finds the old guard changing, and his life unravelling. Cast includes Martin Pastor, Ben Lang, Maxine Woods, Henry Nemo, Jacques Taylor, Jean Leslie, Ellen Herbert, and Sandra Kazan. (80 minutes, 1989)
The Kingdom: The terrorism story is reinvented as an action film. It is a blood-pumping tale of an elite FBI team that voyages surreptitiously to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to examine a massive explosion at a U.S. living area. Cast includes Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Garner, Chris Cooper, Jason Bateman, Ashraf Barhom, Ali Suliman, Jeremy Piven, Danny Huston, Richard Jenkins, Frances Fisher, Anna Deavere Smith, and Tim McGraw. Strange Interlude: Talky Eugene O’Neill play gets to be marathon of central opinions exposed only to spectators in journal of Gable, Shearer. It is about growing old without settling their complications. This is a preoccupying film, with Shearer at her brilliant best. Cast includes Norma Shearer, Clark Gable, Might Robson, Maureen O’Sullivan, Robert Youthful, Ralph Morgan, Henry B. Walthall, and Alexander Kirkland. (110 minutes, 1932)
Edward My Son: Well acted however talky, stagy drama in which brash, rags-to-riches Tracy coddles his child, hoping to inject within him a sense of accountability. Cast includes Spencer Tracy, Deborah Kerr, Ian Hunter, James Donald, Mervyn Johns, qnd Felix Aylmer. (112 minutes, 1949)
Big Shots: So-so adolescent venture in reference to an ignorant white boy and streetwise city black that come together and find themselves hired as hit men. Cast includes Ricky Busker, Darius McCrary, Robert Delight, Robert Prosky, Jerzy Skolimowski, and Paul Winfield. (90 minutes, 1987)
