Macabre came out in 1958. Outlandish goings on in smaIl town where a physician’s youthful daughter mysteriously disappears and a mysterious telephone caller declares that the youngster has been buried alive. Cast includes William Prince, Jim Backus, Christine White, and Jacqueline Scott.
Sing, You Sinners from 1938. Gambling Crosby couldn’t face responsibility, regardless of jabbing his brother MacMurray. Three brothers with diverse interests have a singing act. Can the other two brothers save the day when the gambling sibling bets on a “sure thing”? Includes Wesley Ruggles, Bing Crosby, Fred MacMurray, Donald O’Connor, Elizabeth Patterson, Ellen Drew, and John Gallaudet.
The Meteor Man from 1993. Townsend plays a hesitant, nerdy school teacher with a fear of heights who gets hit by an peculiar emerald meteor that turns him into a superhero. Fantastic “Superman in the Hood” narrative, bursting of good values, but very few really hilarious moments. Cast includes Robert Townsend, Marla Gibbs, Eddie Griffin, Robert Guillaume, James Earl Jones, Roy Fegan, and Bill Cosby.
From 1982 came Danny Boy. Ambitious even if arrogant, unrelentingly uninteresting melodrama of sax player Rea, who trades his sax for a gun after observing a triple killing. This was Jordan’s directorial debut, which he as well did the screenplay. He and leading guy Rea later reteamed for The Weeping Game.
