I heard that they were banning traction control but are they doing it on consumer everyday normal cars like honda and pontiac or just on Formula One racers?

No, its a law that every car must have traction control by 2013, so they obviously would not be banning it.
But it causes more accidents with professional drivers because the car stops responding to the drivers inputs, and tries to correct the car itself. And if somebody truly knows how to drive a car, such as race car drivers, it presents a problem.
Most people that drive normal cars have no clue how to control the car when it gets away from them, hence the law.
The Formula One ban is getting mixed reviews from the drivers, and, as expected, the veteran drivers are prone to say that it’s a good move to help keep the race driver’s skill with the vehicle primary in the competition while the less experienced drivers, who have reached this level in the sport, were brought up with the electronic aids – and they’re rather skeptical about having to essentially re-learn how to drive these cars competitively when the fuse is pulled.
It seems that the systems will continue on consumer vehicles.
