My vote goes to the Avira antivirus program.
You can also use the “Antimalwarebytes” and “Superantispyware” for the malwares and spywares.
“Avast! Antivirus” it is the best one I’ve used so far in terms of antivirus. You will have to register to their site yerly to get a new serial for the software but registration is FREE! Registering yearly may be a hassle but it is worth it as it is a very good free antivirus software. If you also want a spyware or malware scanner, download “Lavasoft Ad-Aware anniversary edition (free version)” it also has extra features that may apeal to you.
it is also very good. I use themboth in conjunction right now.
Avira and Avast are the very best. Try them both and see which one you like. I like Avira because she is Lean n Mean…
Well i would go for avast or eset if i were you because these two are very good but eset is the best it can detect and remove any virus and spyware on your computer.so try eset today.
Norton AntiVirus 2009
Norton AntiVirus 2009 provides fast, responsive defense against all types of malicious software including viruses, spyware, worms, and other software threats. It protects your system without slowing it down. Rapid pulse updates every 5 to 15 minutes help to ensure that you’re protected from the latest threats.

AVG Anti virus is the best, review and download below
AVAST home Edition 4.8 is best Free antivirus, This is my 2nd year with it. Great detection rate, and large virus database. However it needs support of SuperAntiSpyware free version and a good firewall like ZoneAlarm Or Comodo To make your computer completely protected from virus.
Avast! Home Edition or Avira AntiVir Personal are both good. However, all of the freebies (including these two) are incomplete one way or another. For example, according to the *official* AVG website, AVG Free includes no anti-rootkit or a web shield; and according to the *official* Avira website, AntiVir Personal includes no ‘WebGuard’ or ‘AntiDrive-by’. Avast is probably the most complete (including a web shield etc), but Avira has higher detection-rates. You’d be better off going for a top-rated commercial (paid-for) AV and getting both complete features and high detection-rates. ESET NOD32 and Kaspersky AV are both considered two of ‘the best’. Avira AntiVir *Premium* (the paid-for version) isn’t a bad choice either – but is prone to false-positives.
As for free anti-spyware software, most freebies include no (or very limited) real-time protection. The free versions of Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware and SUPERAntiSpyware are both very good (for on-demand scanning and removal if required) but inlcude *no* real-time protection. Spybot S&D and AdAware include very limited/basic real-time protection, but are both *outdated* now. You really have to fork-out some cash here for good protection too.
Take note that anti-virus software generally include anti-spyware protection nowadays anyway – so you are covered to some degree already if you have an anti-virus program installed. Of course, it is still a very good idea to get a stand-alone anti-spyware/anti-malware solution that will protect you in real-time also (such as the commercial versions of SAS or MBAM).
Pick one from this list:

AVG Free Edition is the well-known antivirus protection tool. AVG Free is available free of charge to home users for the life of the product , rapid virus database updates are available for the lifetime of the product, thereby providing the high level of detection capability that millions of users around the world trust to protect their computers. AVG Free is easy to use and will not slow your system down (low system resource requirements.

I would like to go with Avg anti virus security software, its free…
Best free Anti virus: Avast: http://www.avast.com, AVG: http://www.free-avg.com,
Avira: http://www.free-av.com. Check out http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-sAFtLsc8erIoh.ENhksr2KyG for more details.
There are a few choices when it comes to security, mainly in the AntiVirus department. Some very good, free anti-viruses available to download are:
1) AVG 8 AntiVirus. Easiest interface to use, very fast scanning and doesn’t lag your computer at all. Only has a 76% detection rate, but catches the most harmful of viruses. If you’re a normal home user, you’re not in too much danger of higher level viruses and this is the AV for you:
http://www.free.grisoft.com
2) Avast! 4 AntiVirus. Smaller, sleeker skin, average scanning speed, but reports alot of safe files as viruses, so you might need to watch out for that. 78% detection rate, but alot more complicated than most other free AVs. Use this if you are handy with a computer and you know what needs to be scanned:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
3) Avira AntiVirus. Simple layout, which even the most basic of users can navigate. Incredibly fast scanning, with a 90% detection rate. Not as easy on the eyes as other AVs, and you need to know what you’re doing to get the more advanced features, but it is definite a candidate:

Personally I use AVG, but only because I go for the easier interface. If you are paranoid about viruses then the only real option is Avira. But if you just want normal protection, then any of the three will do it for you.
For any spyware problems, get SpyBot – Search and Destroy:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html
For protecting your computer for malware or tracking cookies, use Ad-Aware 2008 Free Edition:
http://lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php
Firewalls are a bit easier, and the best free one that’s available is Comodo Firewall:
http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/download_firewall.html
All of them are free, as powerful as paid programs, like McAfee and Norton (which only has an 18% detection rate!), and don’t use up as many resources.
Just boot into Safe Mode (Press F8 when turning on the computer) and run full scans.
Hope that helps~
Avast
I have used Zone Alarm Firewall, I have also got superantispyware and Malwarebytes. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I have just changed to Avast antivirus and all seems good so far. Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from http://www.download.com/ I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps
It has got to be AVG Free
AVG Free was one of the most commonly downloaded software programs of last year and is growing in popularity. I’ve used it for several months now and it is great. It doesn’t take ages to load up like Norton does and of course, it is totally free. It gives a good quality of protection considering it’s free and I’ve had no problems with it whatso ever.
Here is a review of the Antivirus software:
