Xbox 360 Ring Of Death, A Step By Step Guide

One of the most common Xbox 360 problems ever is the three red lights that appears on the Xbox 360 console ROL (Ring of Light) around the power button or what we call in the gaming community the ring of death, when you receive this three red lights it’s a hardware failure with the actual Xbox 360 console or with the power supply (the gray box connected to the wall outlet).

So, if you have these three red lights always check the colour of the power supply light first, & there are 3 colours for it:

1. The power supply may have a green light.

If you see the green light, this means that your xbox 360 power supply have no problems. And the problem is with your xbox 360 console itself. In this case you need to contact the xbox 360 customer support to have your console replaced. You might want to try to replace it with your retailer but most retailer won’t do it unless you are in the first month of your guarantee. Just give it a try because it might be faster than shipping the console to microsoft to get it repaired or replaced.

2. An orange or yellow light on your xbox 360 power supply.

Usually when the Xbox 360 power supply light is orange it’s on standby so there is no problem with your Xbox 360 console but the power supply can’t supply it with power!

Please unplug your power supply from your xbox 360 console, then unplug the power cord from the wall outlet as well. Then unplug the xbox 360 power supply from the power cord. Then wait for 2 or 3 minutes then plug everything back again. If the problem still persists, then it is a problem with your xbox 360 power supply.

So, In this case please contact the Xbox 360 customer support to fulfill the Xbox 360 power supply.

3. The power supply light is red.

This might mean that the power supply connection to the xbox 360 isn’t right or having a bit of a problem, unplug the power supply from the xbox 360 console and from the wall out let like the previous step. wait for a few minutes then reconnect everything back and try again.

If the red light is still there, then it is a faulty power supply and you should get in touch with the xbox 360 customer support to get it fixed.

4. Xbox 360 power supply light is not illuminating at all.

That usually means that the Xbox 360 power supply is not connected to the wall outlet correctly, but even though it might be a fault with the power supply or the power cord.

Unplug everything like previous steps and wait for a few minutes, then connect it all back again. You might want to try another wall outlet without an extension cord.
