The Panasonic TX-P42G20 is HD ready, efficiently displaying both still and moving pictures with 1920 x 1080p resolution. It boasts of a large NeoPDP screen. It has a wide 16:9 screen aspect ratio, and an incredible 2000000:1 contrast ratio (dynamic). The TX-P42G20 has an integrated freesat digital tuner, enabling you to enjoy satellite broadcasts – absolutely for free. This stunner comes from VIERA G20 series of plasma televisions.

It strives to be different, however, from other VIERA members, as well as its rivals. In a world of HD TVs where everything looks elegant and glossy black, the TV adds in a hint of difference. For along the bottom of the panel is a silver strip, giving it a unique look.

The Panasonic is a well designed television system; this Panasonic model offers 1080P Full HD with 1920×1080 resolution that presents images in sharp detail and with bold, vivid colors.

The speaker system is furnished on the bottom of the black flat screen panel. The TV also generates a twenty watt audio output which is standard in most flat screens. The plasma screen, however, only has two types of sound modes, music and speech. Offsetting this limitation is the model’s virtual surround sound and Digital Dolby capability.

The only drawback in this tech is some DVDs, especially on diagonals, show some deterioration of quality, but a good player can compensate for it.

The 600 MHz Sub Field Drive with Intelligent Frame creation Pro helps to keep the picture smooth by creating an analog rendering and projecting it back to the screen. This keeps the motion clear and smooth at all times while you watch.

In addition to the clarity of the picture, you can also watch your memory card videos and pictures on screen, which allows you to view even more of your life in HD.

User-friendly widgets enable you to access a variety of contents from the world wide web. Such include photos, video clips, news reports, weather information and other useful online finds. Now you can go straight online after watching a movie.

Like many sets of this type, the sound is average at best. The VAudio surround sound is supposed to take the dimensions of the room into consideration, and project a fantastic sound, but you will find that in order to get a true home theater, you will need to have an external sound system in place. It will do the job, but it will not be as good as another system.

In short, the TX-P42G20 meets all the expectations one would have from a plasma flat screen from Panasonic. It has a solid picture quality, which is what one buys a television of this quality for. For the price and quality, the TX-P42G20 is on par with the rest of the industry.
