if anyone knows of any cheap fisheye lens to fit the FZ50 can you let me know, i live in australia.
is shutter sound about same as tz series? (very quiet?)
any mirror slap or other noises, sounds?
are there options to turn off all sounds, clicks in camera?
is there a way to take self portraits horizontally without having it upside down?
can you transfer pics to your camera without installing the software that it comes with?
I’ve got one of these. It’s great outside, not so good indoors. I recommend.

Any chance to review the upcoming FZ100? because im having a hard time choosing a DSLR, on my top list is Canon 550D+Tamron 18-270mm, will this FZ100 match this rival. Im not a Pro, just enjoy taking family pictures and some landscapes, no big printouts… A4 is just good enough for us. Many thanks!

same here!!! fz38 has 12.2mp and 18x zoom! I don’t know why the fz50 has 10.1mp and 12x zoom.

Well, there’s a little problem with the extreme 12 zoom. At 35mm, it shows noticable barrel distortion It looks like a picture taken with an extreme wide angle lens, when you actually were not standing that close to the subject. But, I guess these are the compromises we have to make with those super-zoom lenses.
FZ50, no question about it. The FZ28 has a cheesy button controlled electric zoom. The FZ50 has a nice smooth zoom you control with a confortable ring on the lens.

Fantastic review! I have the DMC-FZ30, and everything said in this review is true. This guy is the best camera reviewer I’ve ever seen. I think that Panasonic discontinued the FZ50, which is a shame. It was a very very good camera for the price. Oh oh… One little thing I have to disagree about the review. The dust or sand can actually get inside of this camera, as it isn’t a pro grade weather sealed unit. If this happens, it’s bad, ’cause you won’t be able to take the dust out of it

My FZ50 is now 2 years old and its fantastic in every way! As well as very high quality general photography I am increasingly using my camera for medical and research purposes. Pictures enlarged to fill large screens in lecture halls have amazing quality. Forget SLR’s, get one of these!
