@javyuma If you don’t know what a DSLR is or how this isn’t one, why are you buying it?
@javyuma It isn’t a DSLR because it doesn’t have a reflex mirror passing the light coming through the lens to an optical viewfinder. This is what defines a DSLR, not the ability to change lenses. Technically they’re Compact System Cameras, but not many people know that term yet.
What do you mean by not technically a DSLR? I just bought this from next searching DSLR.

@Shamurocksuk1 the best “cheap” DSLR for Video Shooting is the Canon 550D. I have it and it simply betters every lumix or nikon in video mode

@spectrobie11 I just click on it and it opens up with a program called movie player but I am using Ubuntu instead of Windows and windows can not play MTS. But what I do is when I do not know something. I just type the question I have into my browser and so far I have always been able to sort most things out. so if you run window 7, your question could be: how do I play my MTS movie files in windows 7 you will get many links that will give you all the information you need to solve your problem.

@ahiranta thank you i managed to find the folder where they are stored but i also uncovered another problem, lol
my computer cannot read the file format they are in, do you know what software i need to open them?

@spectrobie11 The video’s on the Lumix g2 are stored in a separate folder on your card. Just browse through all your folders on your card and you will soon find out which folder stores your photo’s and which folder stores your video’s.

do you know how to download the videos off the lumix g2 to a computer or laptop?
because i can download my images but cannot seem to find the videos off my lumix g2, any help would be gratefully appreciated.
@Shamurocksuk1 There are very advanced point and shoot cameras ! I just got a Samsung TL350 and is simply amazing, I have used many DSLR’s and this little camera puts down many to shame….. Check out the reviews and test in case you like and want to remain with a point and shoot…..

@Shamurocksuk1 The G2 is fantastic! Since I’ve purchased it I don’t want to miss the touchscreen. But before I had four cameras and I think if you want to learn about photography you’d be better off with a “real” DSLR. Search on YT for entry models and you’ll find your cam.
@Mirtzs It can record up to 29 mins 59 secs. No still cameras record for longer because they’d be classified as video cameras which attract higher import duties.
is there a filming limit on the g2? because a lot of cameras have this 12 min. limit, and i’m thinking of getting this one, as long as it can film longer than 12 min.

@Shamurocksuk1 There’s no straight answer for everyone. It depends on so many things – what you shoot, what lenses you might want in future, what quality level and build quality you require, and personal tastes. The G2 is a good step up from a compact. Small, light, hi-tech, reasonable results. But it s a bit plasticky for some, image quality can be bettered with many DSLRs, and lens choice is a bit limited (unless you buy an adaptor).
I am currently using a “Point n Shoot” camera but looking into moving more towards a DSLR type camera so I can create more creative photos and more professional shots. I am looking into this camera as a place to start, would anybody be able to recommend if this is a wise choice or suggest a better alternative. Bearing in mind the price of the G2 is in the upper bracket of my budget.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have this camera and to my amazement it doesn’t have a landscape mode. The manual says to select “Auto” to shoot landscape scenes. I used it on trip to London and shooting landscape in Auto mode made the pics blurry. This camera is not made for traveling.

I got the SD3500IS and I hate it because it does bad job in lwo light. I needed it to do low light video and it is bad.
Thanks for this review! I’ve been searching the market for a decent, general use camera and you’ve sold me on the Canon PowerShot SD3500IS! The only information I didn’t get from this review is if the camera preforms well in high-noise venues (ie; concerts) Yes, I’m a sneeker-inner of my camera as I find the short videos I manage to get make awesome memories. I’ve experienced cameras that do poorly when recording at this decibel level, and some that do surprisingly well! Either way, I’m sold.
I have bought this camera, but am very dissapointed in the picture quality…it seems to be worst than my SD200 from over 5 years ago….i hope it’s because I don’t know how to use it….what am i doing wrong!?

I tried this at the photo store, the shutter LAG is really apparent, which is really important to me….although the other features are amazing. I’m not sure if I should get this camera.

Excellent review. It’s refreshing to see you cover virtually everything from the camera to even the editing process and what you recommend. Most reviews drone on in monotone or it’ll be a girl checking out the camera and she’ll go on and on about the colors it comes in or how stylish the camera looks. Keep the videos coming.
