I get asked quite often what should I be looking for when I want to get my first dslr. The most important thing is the glass, without better glass you will be much happier with your results and be less frustrated. You wil learn a ton as you grow so I try to focus on the basics right off the bat, not all the bells and whistles of the camera. Get the basic ideas right and you will be really happy.

Hi Jared
Do you recommend me to get the canon 450d refurd with 18-55 kit lens for £330 and a sigma 70-200mm f2.8 lens
Would this be a good beginner nature/bird photography
Thanks
Hey Jared, I’m saving up my money to buy the Nikon D3100 but I’m debating on whether I should buy the dslr with the kit lens, or purchase only the body with a different lens. If I do buy a separate lens, which one do you recommend?
P.s- I’ve practiced shooting with my brother’s D60 before so I’m used to playing around with aperture and shuttersp. so I’m not a total newbie, but I still have a lot to learn and this will be the first time I buy my very own!
thanks in advance

Hi Jared. Great video with lots of informations i say. really thank you. U know, when u want to get your 1st camera and ask ppl which one, they really made me confused. Thanks god u r the 1st one supported Nikon D3000 body which i planned myself before ppl distracted me. But i searched for the mentioned lense in B&H and adorama, could nt find the sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 . can you help me on this, there were 18-50mm 2.8-4.5 DC OS HSM lenses, but not the one you mentioned.
I see you have CRUSH ITby Gary Vaynerchuk on your bed, that must have inspired you to create FroKnowsPhoto yeah?
Hey Jared, I don’t mind spending a little omn some lenses. Its my first SLR, what do you suggest I bu (lenses and body, today? For under $800 ?
@JaredPolin Hey Jared, what do you think of Sony DSLR’s ?
PS videos are awesome !!!!!!!
@tannu99 Yes its a very good starting Canon camera. The 1000D or the 550D is both great “pretty” cheap cameras.
Hey Jared, ur the best. Thank u so much for taking the time to start from scratch when explaining something. Very few if any take the approach of speaking to people like myself who are new to photography and are just becoming familiar with the jargon. Keep doing what u do. Love it!!!!
Is canon eos 1000d/rebel XS good for first dslr?
i started with nikon d3100 best buy i ever maid it came with the lens kit but the a went for the nikon 55-200 mm af-s nikkor glass wich is also awsome
@khetanagrim d7000 is pretty good just dont get crap glass.
ok… will invest in lenses as i save up more.. for now i think i need to settle with the 18-105mm… thanks for the quick response…
@khetanagrim nikon 35 1.8, 70-200 2.8 sigma version 2 is good for 800 bucks.
@JaredPolin what would u recommend to start off with… i’m getting a decent body right now… lenses maybe lateron i can add to the kit… what lenses do u think i should consider?
@khetanagrim the body is a good idea, the lens i would pass on and get something better but it will work to start.
