Diablo 3 Wizard Runestones are the newest tidbit of information that’s been released by Blizzard about the impending title. The release date has not been set as of yet, but many industry experts think it may release for the two thousand eleven holiday season. The following is a bit of known information about the new item: Runestone.

The newest iteration of the Diablo series promises extensive character choices for customization. It is a primary goal in the design of the new game. All five character classes have access to charms, enhancements, armor, gems, weapons, and traits. All five of the character classes will also be able to use a new ability that has just been released: Runestones.

Over twenty skills per class exist. A player chooses access of up to seven of those skills at once. These skills give characters the ability to perform attacks and cast spells. However, they also activate defensive stances, set traps, summon minions, quick travel, and escape mechanics. This already presents a heavy load of customization. Runestones will allow each character to customize skills by modifying the appearance and function of each skill.

The stones will come in five types. Available types are golden, obsidian, indigo, crimson, and alabaster. They each have a different affect on skills. Crimson enhances damage. Alabaster adds a stun effect.

Placing a stone couldn’t be too much easier. Just open the skills screen. Then a tool-tip comes up and walks players through the process. At this point, it’s difficult to deny the heavy amount of customization potential this game possesses.

Each color of rune also comes in a different power ranking. The higher the rank, the larger effect it will have on the skill. With this many choices for customization, you’ll have to try them all out and see which fits your play-style the best.
