Are you hooked on racing motorcycles, or are you just looking for some leisure riding with a powerful motorcycle? Primarily announced in 1985, the Yamaha VMAX is accepted as one of the fastest motorcycles available on the market. It isn’t really a motorcycle for beginners, but for those who are skilled, and wanting speed and excitement when riding their motorcycle. This particular bike is a consistent top seller and the name VMAX is associated with speed.
The V-Boost, which can increase the power to 800 RMP, is its most incredible feature. Butterfly valves separate the four downshaft carburetors which deliver fuel to the cylinders. Many other hot rod types of bikes cannot offer the same horsepower of the V-Boost. The V-Boost furthermore allows VMAX quick and smooth acceleration. The first VMAX, that was only released in the United States, included a V4 1200 CC engine, and had 145 HP and V-Boost. The year 1986 saw the European release of a 104 HP style by Yamaha. The European bikes sadly lacked the formidable V-Boost. A digital electronic ignition was included with the motorcycle prior to being released in Japan in 1990.
The European design had to be modified due to the enforcement of strict noise restrictions throughout Europe. So in 1996 there was a switch to a black exhaust system by Yamaha, which wasn’t very well received by bike owners, consequently the chrome design was back in 1998. However, not all bike riders enjoy the power of the VMAX, the many members of the VMAX Owners Association are very satisfied with their bikes. Motorcycle rallies and races are often sponsored by the Association for their members. This bike can be used in drag racing due to the great edge the challengers enjoy with the VMAX. Modified VMAX motorcycles have been able to reach speeds of more than 200 MPH in a quarter mile at major competitions.
Since it was unveiled in 1985 the Yamaha VMAX has become a hot selling motorcycle. The bike’s gripping design has a robust appearance along with black and chrome design features. For many people this lack of originality is the only drawback. Some folks have added personal variations to make their bike unique. What they have done is introduce distinctive exhaust systems, different mirrors, adding decals to various places on the bike, and much more. Many riders have also swapped the original seat for a more comfortable one. These things are easy to do, because the power of the bike is the principal appeal.
For around 20 years the Yamaha VMAX continues to be known as the hottest muscle bike on the planet. This motorbike is a top achiever when it comes to how it performs as well as how it looks but it’s very much a bike for experienced bikers.
