The all-new Samsung Infuse 4G is a workhorse with the hardware to deliver top-notch business performance. But the Infuse isn’t all work and no play. In fact, it’s a highly capable multimedia player, and Samsung offers a wide range of “fun” accessories beyond the basic case and a screen protector that we’ll all buy. You can take this multimedia powerhouse anywhere, including the car, but taking advantage of those entertainment capabilities can present a problem. What’s the most efficient way? Well, let’s look at four of the most common solutions.
The simplest and least expensive option is the Bluetooth headset. Nearly everyone who uses his or her smart phone while driving has a Bluetooth earpiece. After all, most states require it by law now. But a lot of us has a basic headset, and Bluetooth technology has technlogically advanced since it was announced. Today, most Bluetooth products support A2DP, which is an advanced profile that allows a Bluetooth device to deliver a full-blown 2-channel stereo stream from your Infuse. The technology has come very far and you’ll notice very small difference between it and a wired alternative.
Some just prefer not to use an earpiece or headset while driving, so another safe option is the use of Bluetooth speakers. You usually need one full-range Bluetooth speaker for your car and you can easily mount it inside your car. A Bluetooth speaker functions like a headset. You can just select it in the Infuse’s Bluetooth menu and the smart phone will channel the music stream as it would to a Bluetooth headset. Once you’ve got it hooked up, just press play in your favorite playlist or even an app like Pandora, and you’re good to go.
If you’re not into investing into external speakers, then you can easily use your car’s built-in speakers. For example, many of the popular smart phone docks for cars have hands-free communication mechanism that lets you use the car radio like a speakerphone. If you have this capability, you should be able to use it to send a music stream to the car radio as well. In fact, many newer cars have built-in Bluetooth-capable stereo systems. In this case, you don’t even need an app. Your phone will automatically detect the radio as a Bluetooth device; Just select it and press play.
For smart phone owners with such capabilities in their automobile, they can also take advantage of a streaming service. Some of these services are extremely car-oriented, and they can even help you get set up (as part of a subscription) if you’re not already configured to do so. The advantage to this service is that you don’t need to provide the music. Just choose the “station” that best suits you, and most of these services have Pandora-like features where you can define your own station.
