Can you use a digital camera like a good ole fashioned manual camera to take great black and whites?

Question by royrox: Can you use a digital camera like a good ole fashioned manual camera to take great black and whites?
I have found that it is pretty difficult to take great quality photos with a digital camera. I think a good 35mm camera takes incredible pictures, and a digital just takes ‘good’ photos. Whattaya think? Am I just doing something wrong? (PS.. I’m not a professional photographer, and don’t even know how to use a 35mm…. I’m just referring to pictures I have seen, not taken, with a ‘good ole fashioned manual camera’ ! )

Q&A: What is a good digital camera to get for a novice photographer?

Question by lainey: What is a good digital camera to get for a novice photographer?
I am a graphic design student who is interested in photography – specifically pin-up/fashion photography- and would like to use the shots for my art work. The only problem is that Graphic Design school is expensive enough, so I plan on teaching my self the basics in digital photography……so I would like some recommendations on a starter digital camera that isnt too expensive! I have a simple Kodak Easy Share 3.1 camera….im assuming it wont make the cut! Although I use photoshop to manipulate photo’s i take – I figure I would still need a better camera to take better shots…. any recommendations/ideas on cameras, equipment, how to get started would help and be greatly appreciated.

probably one of the top cameras in the 0 range is the Casio EX-Z600. It has 4x optical zoom, 6.1MP and an f2.7 lens (the widest currently available on a point and shoot)

The GE cameras are pretty good on batteries. You definitely want to use rechargeable ones.

I would call Nikon 800.NIKON-UX and 800.OK-CANON and ask them for the authorized distributors for their refurbished cameras

Q&A: How good is a digital camera with a 3x optical zoom, and 10 megapixels?

Question by Naomi M.: How good is a digital camera with a 3x optical zoom, and 10 megapixels?
I wanted to get into digital photography as a hobby, so I decided to buy a cheap basic digital camera to start. However, I’m worried that the camera I got won’t do very well. It has 3x optical zoom, 10.1 megapixels, I’m not sure how to tell how big the sensory is, and it has 4.5x digital zoom, but the digital zoom sort of sucks.
It’s a GE digital camera.

What digital camera takes good indoor photos?

Question by MaddyB: What digital camera takes good indoor photos?
Hi, I’m looking for a regular point-and-shoot digital camera and I was wondering which one takes the best indoor photos? My Kodak camera I currently have takes horrible indoor photos and they always turn out yellowish and grainy. I would prefer a Sony, Canon, or Nikon that is under 0. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Unfortunately, you are not going to get anything for under 120. You just won’t.
For around 350 (yes, that’s a lot more than your estimate lol) you can get the Sony TX7. I got it a few months ago, and it has a specific anti-motion no-flash mode that I love. Indoor, it’s perfect. My old Canon had your same problem; indoors, everything looked terrible. You don’t always want flash, and the TX7 is great for that. It’s not super cheap, but it’s powerful and tiny.
Under 120, most cameras will not have modes that will do what you need. Sometimes you have to spend a little more money.
