Want To Make Your Slow Computer A Bit Faster? Try This Out.

Computer running slow? Starting to piss your off? Try tuning your virtual memory. See, your computer has a hard drive that it uses to store files like your computers operating system and your personal stuff. Then it has something called RAM which is space that it uses temporarily to open and work with files or programs. The problem happens when your computer runs out of space on your RAM to work with.

It then has a choice: either tell you that you cannot open any more programs or find a new place to use as its temporary work place. This new place is called virtual memory and is located on your hard drive. The name for the space on your hard drive that the virtual memory occupies is called a Paging File. If you want your slow computer to run a bit quicker all you have to do is to tune your computer Paging File. Here’s how to do it:

If you are a Windows XP user just click Start and right click My Computer and now select Properties. Now click on the Advanced tab and then under the area that says “Performance” just click on the Settings icon. A new window should appear. Just click on the Advanced tab at the top of the window and then under the Virtual Memory section, click on Change. Just make sure to look under where it says “Drive [Volume Label]” and make sure that your C: is highlighted. Now just look under Page file size for selected drive and select Custom Size.

Under the area that says “Total page file size for all drives section”, remember the amount that says Recommended as that will be important. What ever number is recommended just type it into both boxes that say “Initial Size” and “Maximum Size”. Now click Set and then Ok. To finsih, just click Apply on the next window and then OK.

For those of you using Windows Vista, just click Start, select Control Panel and on the left hand side make sure Classic View is selected. Now double click on the System icon. Now look on the left side of the window and click on the Advanced System Settings. Select the Advanced tab at the top of the window and then under the section that says Performance select Settings. A new window should appear. Just click on the Advanced tab at the top of the screen and under the section that says “Virtual Memory” select Change. Now uncheck the box that says “Automatically manage paging file size for all drivers” and look in the area where it says “Drive [Volume Label]” to make sure that C: is selected. Now look under Page file size for selected drive and select Custom Size and where it says “Total page file size for all drives section” take not of the amount that says “Recommended” as you will be using this number. Now take whatever number it says is recommended and type that into both boxes that say “Initial Size” and “Maximum Size”. To finish just click on Set, then Ok and for the next window just click on Apply and then OK.

Could The Way Your Computer Look Be What Is Slowing It Down?

Could it really be true that your computers look might be the real reason why it runs slow? Yes, and no. Its part of the reason you have a slow computer, well actually it’s a small part of the reason your computer runs slow. Your computer runs slow because of all of the junk that builds up on it, but Windows has tuned its operating system to look good so that it will have user appeal.

This holds especially true if you are using Windows Vista since Vista has a lot of unnecessary things that are running in the back ground that are designed to just make the computer look good. Here is how to tune down your computers looks to make it run faster:

If you are running on Windows XP, click on the Start button in the left hand corner of your screen, right click on My Computer and select the Properties option. Click on the Advanced tab and the section that says “Performance” just click on the Settings button. Now once you are in the Visual Effects tab, select “Adjust For Best Performance”. What you are doing here is manually causing Windows XP to look more like Windows 98 so that it will run faster. Now, if you would like your computer to look somewhat good and still fixed to go faster just select the Custom box and make sure that all of the other boxes are checked off. Now just scroll down to the bottom and select “Use Visual Styles On Windows And Buttons”. To finish just select Apply and then OK.

If you are running Windows Vista, click Start, right click on Computer and select Properties. On the left hand side, select Advanced System Settings. In the advanced tab where it says Performance, click on the Settings button. Now in the Visual Effects tab, select Adjust For Best Performance. This will make Vista look more like Windows 98. If you would like to keep the way that Vista looks, and still have your computers look tuned for performance, just select the Custom box, make sure that everything is checked off and then select the box that says “Use Visual Styles On Windows And Buttons”. Click Apply and then OK.

The amount of a performance boost on your slow computer will vary greatly depending on your computers limitations, but I have used this tune up for many different computers and most of them saw a noticeable difference. Surprisingly most computer users never really take the time to tune their computers looks for performance and this can be one of the main causes of a slow computer. For the most part there really isn’t any loss at all to the person using the computer and most people will do just about anything to make their slow computer a bit faster, so feel free to give it a try.

Could Windows Vistas Pretty Looks Be To Blame For It Running So Slow?

If you have switched over from XP to Vista you surly will have known by now that Vista is much slower. This lack of speed has to do with Vista dedicating a lot of its resources to trying to “look pretty”. Making the operating system look nice is great and all but when it comes time to actually get some work done it can be a huge problem. In this article I am going to show you two quick ways to make your Vista perform a it faster but you are going to have to be willing to sacrifice some of Vistas looks in order to get more function. Keep in mind that there really is no point in having your computer look really nice since you are the only person that is really going to be seeing it.

If you are using Vista Home Premium, Business, Enterprise or Ultimate, chances are that you have the Aero effect turned on. The Aero effect is designed to make your computer’s windows have more of a glass like effect to them, which no one really needs at all. It also enables Windows Flip 3D which is something that no one really needs (if you don’t know what Windows Flip 3D is, open a few windows, hold the Windows Button down and press the Tab button. You should be able to cycle through all of your currently opened windows in a fancy format). These features are really just pointless things that Windows has added to make your computer look really cool. Here’s how to get rid of the Aero effect:

To start, just click on the Start icon at the bottom left hand screen, click on Control Panel and on the top left hand side of the screen make sure that you have Control Panel Home selected. Then click on the Appearance and Personalize link, then click on Personalize, click on Windows Color and Appearance and at the bottom of the screen just select “Open classic appearance properties for more color options”. In the new window under where it has the Color Scheme drop down box, just select Windows Vista Basic. Then just click Apply and then OK. What this is going to do is turn off the Aero effect.

The second thing that you probably don’t need that Vista has to offer is the sidebar. Now, unless you actually use the gadgets on the sidebar regularly (the clock doesn’t count, there’s one in the bottom right hand corner of your screen that is perfectly good) then I suggest that you get rid of it. It really serves no function to the average user except to make your computers desktop look cool. Here’s how to do it:Right click on the windows sidebar icon in the System Tray and select properties (the system tray is that little group of icons in the bottom right hand corner next to the clock). In the Windows Sidebar Properties dialog box uncheck the box the “Start Sidebar when Windows Starts” and select Apply and then OK. Now just right click on the Windows Sidebar Icon in the system tray again and select Exit.

By doing both of these things you have now freed up your computer of some resources which will allow you to get more work done faster.

2 Interesting Tips To Cut Down On Your Slow Computer

Having a slow computer can be very frustrating. If you like me, you are probably trying to do just about everything in order to speed up the process of what it is that you are doing. One of the best ways to do this is to get to your most commonly used applications as quickly as possible. Just think of how much time is wasted when you are looking all over your computer trying to find the applications that you use all of the time.

If you were to add up all of that time spent looking around your computer it would eventually accumulate to a fair bit by the end of the week. So what’s the alternative? In this article I’m going to show you two little tricks that you can do so that you will be able to find your applications much quicker.

To being, let’s start off with the quick launch (if you not sure, the quick launch is that little group of icons that are right beside your start button). If you don’t see a little group of icons right beside your start menu, just right click on the taskbar and select Properties and then select Show Quick Launch to get them there. Now, in order for you to do anything you are going to have to unlock the quick launch. To do that, just right click on the task bar and select the Lock Taskbar option. By now you should be able to see some dotted lines which will allow you to resize it the quick launch window. Now all you have to do is to just find the top 3 applications that you use the most and then go through your All Programs list in the start menu and right click on their icons and select Copy. To add them, just go to your desktop, right click and select Paste. Now you should now see a copy of that icon on your desktop – all you have to do now to complete this is to just drag it into the quick launch area and the icon should be in bottom right hand corner next to the start menu (you can delete the shortcut that you copied to your desktop now since you will not be needing it). So every time that you start up your computer or just log on you don’t have to look all over the place those 3 programs – there right in front of you.

Now the start menu can also be of use to you when you are looking around for your applications. If you click on the start menu you will notice a faint horizontal line on the left hand side. Everything that is above this line is permanently there unless you manually remove it and everything below this line is programs that you have most recently used. What you’re going to want to do here is to add 3-5 programs that you use regularly to the permanent (the top part) of the list. Just go to All Programs on the start menu, right click on the program icon and select “Pin To Start Menu”. Do this for all 3-5 programs that you want to add to your start menu. Now you have your main 3 programs on your task bar and the other 3-5 regularly used ones on your start menu so you don’t have look around your computer to find where they are.

To take it to the next level you can spend some time cleaning up your desktop. A messy desktop can really slow down your ability to find what you are looking for. Delete all files that are unnecessary and put all important files into folders that are organized. You should really only have shortcuts to your applications and maybe a few important folders on your desktop.

This is due to the brilliant sound and picture innovations it has delivered. These innovations certainly help make playing the game a lot more fun.

It should come as no surprise that the Xbox 360 is known for its brilliant technical attributes and innovations. The system is the product of Microsoft which certainly has a reputation as a trailblazer in the world of computer and gaming systems. While most people do expect a certain level of originality and technical achievement from Microsoft, this particular system proved to far exceed expectations thanks to the development of “Xbox Live.”

Xbox live can be considered an interactive component of the system which allows players to play against each other (or team with each other) online. This opens the door to scores of team player scenarios where gamers can interact with each other from all over the world. That adds a unique dimension to the concept of online gaming that most find appealing. Yes, we have come a long not only from the older classic home gaming systems, but we have advanced beyond even those systems that were devised a few short years ago.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to playing on Xbox Live as multiplayers can devise scores of unique gaming scenarios. Many shooter games become truly challenging when teams vie against one another in a multitude of scenarios and genres. This is certainly a huge plus not only from an innovative aspect but also from a cost-effective aspect. That is, you can watch your high definition DVDs through your game console as opposed to purchasing a completely new DVD player.
